  1. This is the first step towards running your first monthly payroll. Every column of a payroll beyond the basic salary comes from a salary component, so let's create an allowance and a deduction.

  2. First, sign in with your username and password.

  3. From System, Apps Settings, open the HR settings and choose Salary Component. Even a new company already has Basic Salary, which is protected, plus Overtime, Loan and Absence, which payroll fills in by itself.

  4. Click Add new salary component and name it Housing Allowance. An addition raises the salary, and here it is a fixed amount. Auto applies changes straight away, and Yes means it counts from the salary's effective date. Save, and find it on the last page, where new components are added.

  5. Now add Social Insurance as a deduction, which lowers the salary. Choose Percentage of Basic Salary, so the amount follows the basic salary automatically whenever it changes. Save.

  6. Both components are now at the end of the list. Each one you create has Edit to change it and, in its menu, Delete to remove it.

  7. Your company now has an allowance and a deduction ready to put on salaries. Next video, Add the allowance to your employee's salary.
