  1. With your leave types ready, the next thing to set up is your public holidays. Days the whole company is off should never count as absences, so let's add them.

  2. First, sign in with your username and password.

  3. Open the same HR settings menu: System, Apps Settings, HR. Under Reference Data, choose Holiday Types, then click Add new type.

  4. Type the name, here Public Holidays, and save. A holiday type groups holidays together, and each employee profile ticks the types its staff get.

  5. Now choose Holidays. Holidays are kept per year, and the arrows beside the year move between years. The search box finds a holiday quickly. When a year is still empty, a Copy Previous Year button appears here to reuse last year's list.

  6. Click Add Holiday. Type a description, here National Day, then the first and last day off, the sixteenth to the seventeenth of December. Choose the Public Holidays type we just created.

  7. Click Save, then search for it, and there is the holiday. Each holiday type has its own column. Make sure the box under Public Holidays is ticked, so this day counts as a holiday for that type.

  8. Your company now has a public holiday type and its first holiday, so those days will not count as absences. Next video, Create an employee profile, where the Leave step ticks this holiday type.
