  1. When reminders and an installment plan haven't worked, the next step is court. In this video, we record a court case for a customer who won't pay, and keep track of it in one place.

  2. Court cases are under Customers, Collection, Court Cases. This list shows every case, with its status and the amount at stake. To start one, click New Courtcase.

  3. Choose the customer, and enter the case number the court gave you, so you can match every letter to this case. Add the date the case was filed, and click Save.

  4. The new case appears in the list. Click View to open it. Its page brings together the money involved, the case history, and its documents.

  5. On the Invoices tab, click Attach Invoice, and choose the unpaid invoices this case is about. Then open the case again from the list. It now shows the total at stake, and how many invoices it covers. What has been paid, and the balance, update by themselves as payments come in.

  6. Every step of the case is logged under Followups and Updates. Click New Followup, enter the date and what happened, and save. More types holds the court's ruling, the appeal, and the execution of the judgment.

  7. On the right, Case Info sums up the case, and Notes keeps your team's comments. Archive moves a finished case out of the list, and Remove deletes it for good, so use it with care.

  8. That's it. We opened a court case, attached the unpaid invoice, and logged its first update. Thank you for watching.
